WHAT DO WE BELIEVE IN?
WE ARE AWARE THAT WE KNOW IN PART, SO WE BELIEVE THE PRINCIPLE OF "IN ESSETIALS UNITY, IN NON-ESSENTIALS LIBERTY, IN ALL THINGS, CHARITY", AND DESPITE POSSIBLE THEOLOGICAL DIFFERENCES, WE ARE IN FELLOWSHIP WITH ALL CHRISTIAN CHURCHES.
BIBLE
The Bible is God's word to everyone. The Bible was inspired by God, and written down and compiled by people under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Word of God infallible, can be applied to our daily lives.
TRINITY
There is only one God who is the creator of the universe and in all eternity has existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. All three persons are identical in their divine attributes but different in their rol.
THE FATHER
God is our heavenly Father. The Father is caring, loving and faithful to His own and His promises. God is powerful: all power and knowledge belong to Him, He is everywhere present, He does not change and He is worthy of our trust. He is above all, and He is holy and good. We live, move, and have our being in Him.
THE SON
Jesus Christ is both man and God. He is the only way to restore man's original relationship with God. He lived a sinless life so that He could be our perfect substitute and become an atoning sacrifice for our sins before God. He redeemed us from sin by His death, He overcame death by His resurrection, and thus He gave us life.
HOLY SPIRIT
The presence of the Holy Spirit makes our relationship with Jesus Christ possible. He points to the reality of Christ, convicts men of sin and leads us into all truth. He is the one who communicates with us, who comforts us, who gives us spiritual gifts and forms Christ in us.
ETERNITY
Man is created for eternal existence, which he can spend in two ways. Separated from God because of his sins or together with God through forgiveness and redemption. Anyone who in his life on earth rejects the grace offered by God will be damned and go to the place of eternal judgment, but whoever accepts Jesus Christ as His Redeemer and Lord will spend eternity with God in the recreated world.
REDEMPTION
Salvation is only possible through the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross. When a man by faith accepts Jesus's death and resurrection, God forgives all his sins and receives him as His child. Redemption is a gift from God, it cannot be earned by our own efforts, and it is available to all who call on Him.
THE CHURCH
The church is a community of believers in Christ who are committed to following and obeying the teachings of Jesus Christ. They see it as their calling to proclaim the gospel in the world until Jesus comes back to judge the living and the dead. The church functions in unity and love, and its ultimate goal is to give all the glory to Christ.

OUR STORY
God plans. 25 years ago, God called a few people from an American church called Calvary Chapel to proclaim the gospel in Central Europe. Greg Opean, who later became the first pastor of our congregation, came with this team to former Yugoslavia, from where he first went to Baja and later to Esztergom.
At first a group of university students from Budapest traveled every week to Esztergom to the Bible studies of the Golgota church there, and once there were more of them, Greg traveled to Budapest to study the Bible with these young people. The Golgota in Budapest was born from this small seed. The congregation met in several smaller places and we also spent a summer on Margaret Island (that was the summer when there was not even a drop of rain!). In 2001 we moved to our current location, the News Cinema on Elisabeth Boulevard. As the congregation grew, smaller communities, different ministries serving the congregation and the city were formed, and several other churches in Hungary were also started.
During this time, Phil Metzger was the principal of our Bible School in Vajta, from where he started visiting Budapest more and more as a guest speaker. In September 2006, Greg asked Phil to lead the new Sunday Evening service. Then, the following summer, Greg felt that the Lord was calling him and his family to move back to California. He asked Phil to take over the leadership of the church. In the following period, the congregation continued to grow, which is why three services were started on Sundays. After more than 10 years of leadership, Phil received an invitation from the church in San Diego, and he gave the leadership of the Hungarian Golgota over to Jani Németh, his assistant pastor who previously pastored the Golgota in Esztergom. For nearly 20 years, the American Calvary Chapel has helped the work in Hungary, but now the entire leadership of Golgota is Hungarian. Ever since the beginning, we have been constantly experiencing God's immense blessing and leading in the ministry in Hungary.
25 years ago, God called a few people, but now He is calling us all. He is calling us to do things we have never dreamed of. He's calling us to proclaim grace and make a difference in this country. God plans today the same way He did 25 years ago.
DONATION
God takes care of us, and in the bible he invites us to give to his work. if you desire to take part in our church's ministry this way too, you may do it both online and in person. We would like to continue to use them to organize programs that are a blessing to our congregation and through which we can reach the city and the country.

The 1% tax designations constitute an important part of our church's budget. The ammount we get from the church 1% will be used to support the Golgotas in Hungary, and the civil 1% designated to the Golgota Művészeti Alapítvány (Golgota Art Foundation) will be used to fund the Golgota Gospel Choir, Golgota Worship and the organisation of various evangelistic programmes. We would like to see as many people as possible get to know Jesus through our ministry and programs.
